Dear members of MEDICHI - small and special interest community for the history of informatics.
We have to realize that the [medichi] google group does not work very well. I assume this has nothing to do with a lack of interest of the 24 members. Instead I would say that it is a matter of attention and awareness. And maybe a matter of content. Why go there and check news if there is nothing new? Why post something if there is no reaction or response? Don't get me wrong: I am not complaining. I am just in favour of either having something successful or shutting it down.

Here is my plan. We move to another platform with more traffic in general. This raises visibility and we might attract more people to join and contribute. It is also more likeley that we check the status of the group if the platform is located at a site we visit also for other reasons. Long story short: I have created a new group on LinkedIn for the History of Informatics & Computer Science at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=3503207

Feel free to join and let's see what emerges.

Matthias

Hi Torkil,
sure, every community NEEDS* lurkers. Just sad, that you are no longer a lurker on the google list. But as we move, thanks for volunteering to be a lurker on LinkedIn! ;-)
