Am planning to buy a SUV or MUV early next year in jan.
Actually looking for a mini SUV, but that segment is practically non existent in India as of now.
Daily travelling is 25-30 kms.
Budget any ( the bank will pay 85%, of course)
Inviting suggestions,Does anyone have experience with skoda in India.
Saw a fully loaded Skoda yeti in the showroom, very enticing.

Yes I was suggesting yeti. This is the only one which fits in mini suv. A frend rejected it just because it was mini. Otherwise skoda laura top model which comes only in automatic transmission. Cost abt 18. Has engine same as skoda superb and beautiful interiors. Lot of gadgetry. Mini bond feeling when u drive. Superb pik up. Just try. Outlander is again suv not so big but its on petrol.
My vote is for yeti.
Good luck

i have to park on my clinic's ramp, the place is cramped so i need one with smaller dimensions, also the way traffic is in the cities now-a-days, bigger monsters are a pain in the neck if your driver is not with u.
skoda service sucks....thats what everyone tells me

With 12000 km a year. U can afford a petrol vehicle. For ur requirements CRV is best then. Now it comes with a two wheel drive version too. Cheaper (less expensive) and may be little less guzzler. Its a beautiful vehicle. U wl love it.

Hi Jaideep,
Vento is a quantum leap in perfomance  over my honda city, extremely good suspension, just below the linea( for which it  is the benchmark and also handling) but engine is the true winner. As u know the real world driving conditions are 20-80 in 3rd gear and 40 -100 in 4th gear are 9 secs and 10 secs respectively which is quicker than Jetta ,Laura and Cruze ! I love it it is indeed the new torque king of the segment. on the test drive car i touched 185kmph comfortably on the highway and had more to go before traffic had to end my speed. Unlike hondacity  which runs out of steam at 140 Vento is eager to move ahead. No other car in segment can come close on the highway

the suspension on the new ivtec is quite poor and here are the acceleration figures 20- 80 in 3rd is 12.86 and 40- 100 in 4th is 16.37 vs 9.2 and 10.5 for vento. Honestly i did a lot of research between the two and for my kind of driving style and distance i travel found vento a better choice. The vento TDI highline has a 6 month waiting period which is a minus point and hugely frustrating. I became a vento fan only now after i got it.On bad roads it is the true winner, the rear looks of the honda is the best i must admit.

Sumo can u look up comparisons of new honda iVtec and vento. If I m not wrong most of magazines rated hondacity better than vento. Overfrive gives 5 stars to CRV and city in their class.

Gunj figures can be b manipulated to littl extent. All magazines placed city superior to vento. Differences may not be Big. Vento is some 80000 cheap. A plus point.

Honda's 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that generates 116 bhp
Volkswagen Vento. 1.6 Litre Petrol - 105 Bhp/153 Nm 1.6 Litre Diesel - 105 Bhp/250 Nm

Oh  i was clearly discussing the Vento diesel vs Honda city s perfomance. Petrol to petrol Honda is better , the beauty of the  Vento is that the torque of 250 nm is developed between 1500- 2500 rpm.. The Honda s peak power is devleoped at 4500 rpm . It is the quality of ride on bad  roads that vento wins. On a clear tarmac they are equal. The minus of VW is the dealership is yet to be established and the service will have to be seen. Not to forget the mileage , i get 14.5kmpl in cty and 19.5 on highway, some are getting more than 20 ( if speed is majntained below 130kmph)
