Naming a male child before the bris

Following up on a previous discussion about whether it is proper to
name a premature infant before the bris. In a recent case, where an
infant was very premature, the question was brought to the mekubal
Haztadik Rav Gamliel Rabinowitz in Jerusalem for advice. He
recommended naming the child temporarily with a nme suitable for
praying for compassion, such as Raphael, and then when the bris takes
place b'ezras Hashem a regular name will be added.
