IMPORTANT

Good morning all,

While the evidence base suggesting better outcomes with promptly initiated and continued chest compression only resuscitation in bystander initiated CPR in the case of primary out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cover the classic "ABC" protocol has been discussed in the literature for quite some time now, American Heart Association has updated (2010) its Guidelines on CPR.

The highlight of the new Guidelines is the change from A-B-C to Chest Compressions - Airway - Breathing (C-A-B)

Please read more (including the evidence base for the updated Guidelines) at http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/122/18_suppl_3/S640

MedScape has covered this in a shorter news piece as well at http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/730866

Have a nice weekend,

Prakash
