Medical Clemency for Tony Stewart

This group is dedicated to raising awareness of Anthony Stewart, an individual with limited intellectual capacity due to a traumatic brain injury. Despite being repeatedly found to be incompetent to stand trial, the Commonwealth's Attorney for Lexington/Rockbridge was ultimately able to have an expert testify that Tony could minimally understand the trial process. Tony was convicted of minor drug offenses in 2022 and sentenced to 41 years in prison. Tony suffers from stage 4 renal failure and requires regular dialysis. His is current imprisoned at a medical unit in the Greenville Correction Center along with many other inmates of limited intellectual function and.or physical and medical disabilities. The conditions in this facility -- as with most prisons in the US -- would shock anyone with normal human sensibilities. Tony's family and supporters have tried to obtain relief through the courts but so far without success. The best hope for obtaining his release is through a grant of clemency from the Governor.
