Are there any plans to make widgets GDPR compliant? There are some "2-click"-solutions around that maybe could be integrated into the widgets extension?

For non-Europeans a little bit of explanation: the GDPR is the European data protection regulation. Embedding content from a service like YouTube, Facbeook, Twitter etc. might be problematic, because even showing the video transfers private data (IP address) of somebody visiting the page, even if the video is not clicked.

Therefore some 2-click-solutions have emerged that will cover the video and access the iframe only after a button has been pressed, giving the consent of the user.

An example for videos is this well-maintained extension:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedVideo_(fork)

Also, I found these scripts:

https://github.com/01-Scripts/2Click-Iframe-Privacy

there is clearly an MIT license, but the website of the same project states that it is a non-commercial-license and that we would need to pay in order to re-sue the solution on a commercial website: https://www.01-scripts.de/2click-iframe-privacy.php

This is kind of strange, because there is even a MIT license file on github not stating the same thing as on the website: https://github.com/01-Scripts/2Click-Iframe-Privacy/blob/master/LICENSE

So I don’t know what to think of this.

Another solution (also described in German ) is here https://www.codepalm.de/post/youtube-2-klick-loesung/

Also, I found a plugin for wordpress: https://github.com/dword-design/wp-video-embed-privacy

Adding this possibility to the widget parser function would be great!
