Hide attachments area when no attachments exist

The title says it all really. I think it would be great to hide the attachments area when no attachments exist on a page. Is this currently possible? And if not, would it not be a good configuration setting? Maybe I've missed something and there is already a way to do this. It doesn't make sense to show Attachments box when no attachments actually exist!
