The Spring 2014 release of Mediathread is now running live and in use at Columbia University.  Updated code has been merged into master at https://github.com/ccnmtl/mediathread.

Highlights of this release:
  • Bookmarklet — The Mediathread bookmarklet experience has been redesigned to make collecting media more intuitive. Bookmarklet users can import multiple items  into their Mediathread collection, and it is now possible to add items to a Mediathread collection without being routed to Mediathread.
  • Items -- Users can edit the title of items if they have brought items into Mediathread, via import or upload.
  • Projects -- Compositions now auto-save as a user completes their work.
  • New code supports ARTStor's new dynamic url creation.
  • (importer or uploader).
  • Login page redesigned to support multiple resolutions.
In Fall 2013, 65 classes at Columbia undertook learning activities in Mediathread, in subject domains including Art History, Education, Social Work, East Asian Studies, Music, Public Speaking, and Reading and Composition. Mediathread is now also in use at several other higher education institutions.

A public site describing uses and capacities of Mediathread more extensively will be launching in early February.
