Mamata brings in positive work culture change at Writers

During the Left Front rule, the state secretariat used to remain deserted on Saturdays. This day was meant for either complete rest at home or making a short family trip. Now it means taking our state ahead through work. If someone came to the Writers’ Buildings on a Saturday to complete some urgent pending work, he would have to give an explanation to the CPI(M)-backed coordination committee leaders.  There is no one to ask any question in TMCs rule. The Working culture in WB has changed with Mamata.  Nearly all 37 ministers, who took the oath of office on Friday, arrived at the Writers’ before 11 am on Saturday. Ms Banerjee who worked till well past midnight also arrived just before 12 pm. The employees of the secretariat matched the enthusiasm of the ministers.  Every minister held his first meeting with the secretary of his or her department.

Vatican guidelines on Sex Abuse - inadequate, lack transparency says victims.

The Vatican has released a letter presenting some guidelines for dealing with sex abuse in dioceses around the world. The letter didn’t change much on the policy outlined last summer by Pope Benedict XV and the Survivors Network of Those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, says the new guidelines don’t go far enough. The church needs more transparency in reporting sex abuse crimes, which she says the letter doesn’t address. The letter from the Vatican states that local civil procedures should be followed in cases, but Dorris says the policies must be stricter and the church should do more to ensure that perpetrators are kept out of public ministry.
