detangling rss

Kicking off this new group with my thoughts on rss in Music/
MediaRecommend:

I'm slowly deciding that rss isn't inviting for new visitors (90%+ of
whom haven't used rss). I used to think that because rss is
inherently cool, they would learn rss as they learned Music Recommend,
and they would [maybe] think the whole process was neat. However, I
think I'm turning a corner and now thinking it's just a big hurtle for
people to start to use the site.

So, I've removed a lot of the words about rss, and I'm pushing email
instead (e.g. in the user creation and settings pages). Email
defaults to "on" and is recommended, but the rss feeds are mentioned
too, as an alternative.

Thoughts?
