I've seen a pattern in people making new accounts. They make an
account to recommend some music, and don't ever subscribe to anyone
else's recommendations. This is true for 5 of the 14 total users. I
think that maybe something is wrong.

I'm thinking about MySpace/Facebook, and that on both there is super-
pressure to add "friends". Like, it would be ridiculous to use the
site without adding at least 1 friend. Would making MRec
subscriptions more of an "add a friend" situation get people to take
this step? (i.e. perhaps "subscribe" feels like some big action that
people feel like they don't know if they should take?)

Thoughts?

Add to this 5 more accounts that were created and that's it. (Looking
directly in database.) I think that kind of thing is expected,
though. But I think of making recommendations without "adding
friends" as a red flag that there's an interface problem. (again,
Thoughts?)

I agree, B, and have been thinking along similar lines. I don't know what to do about it except to harass the individuals involved, which I have been reluctant to do. We'll see; I'm in anything but problem-solving mode just now.
