Hello everyone!
Though Medical Education activities are suspended till June end, we
should continue to share information related to medical education. I
am hereby forwarding the following information urgently to faculty of
Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry ---
Dear friends,
The departments of Basic Medical Sciences (Anat, Physio & Biochem),
AIIMS are organizing the second "National Workshop on Assessment
Methods for Learning Evaluation in Basic Medical Sciences" from the 22
to 24, September 2008.
This goes out to all of you with a request for wide publicity amongst
your colleagues who are FACULTY MEMBERS (not for demonstrators/
residents/tutors this time) in departments of BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES
ONLY. Also feel free to share this information with friends and
relatives (basic medical sciences) who are Faculty members in medical
institutions in other cities/states so that they may opt to
participate. Participation is limited (45 seats) and is through a
screening/selection process.
The aims and objectives of the workshop are to enable the participants
to:
1. Underline the concepts and principles of good assessment practices
2. Develop skills in improving assessment of theoretical knowledge -
use of MCQs, SAQs & problem based questions testing analytical
thinking
3. Frame and use OSPEs for assessing practical/clinical skills
4. Identify the deficiencies & suggest measures for strengthening
assessment of specific competencies & learning outcomes in medical
education
5. Get sensitized to some recent trends and developments in assessment
The workshop aims at imparting 'hands-on' training for creating,
applying, analyzing, and improving objective assessment tools like
MCQs, OSPEs and SAQs in basic medical sciences through intensive
training sessions spread over three days, to a group of selected
participants. On a daily basis, following sensitization plenary
sessions by experts, the participants will be divided into small
groups and actively engaged in the 'hands on' sessions facilitated by
dedicated resource persons. Each group will be provided with an
opportunity to present their 'product' to the whole house consisting
of participants, facilitators, resource persons and experts for an
interactive discussion and comments on the same.
Please visit
www.aiims.edu &
www.ijpp.com for further details that
will be made available in the next couple of days. I am attaching the
application format as well.
The last date for receipt of filled in applications is 30th June,
