Only high-end terminals, and potentially the tablets, may use the new
Android 3.0, the open source operating system from Google.

The Android 2.2 also known as Froy was just released (which among
other things incorporates Flash Lite, Davlik JIT compiler and the
ability to run applications from a memory card) and Google already
begins to offer details on Android 3.0, code-named ‘Gingerbread’.

Android 3.0 requires for its proper functioning a 1GHz processor, 512
MB of RAM and a screen of not less than 3.5 inches. For four-inch and
bigger screens resolutions will be offered at 1280×760.

Another drastic change which Android 3.0 will bring is that Google is
ignoring third party user interfaces, such as HTC, MOTOBLUR or Sense,
offering a faster alternative.
