The game begins when five amnesic college-aged teens suddenly appear with guns in the middle of New York City. Psychiatrist David McNamara from DC is sent to examine the case thanks to his previous work in the US Army dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder. Right from the beginning, the case seems odd. On the first day, David discovers that all five patients had the same origins, and they were escaping from the same unknown person from an isolated military island. As the history is revealed, David, using a PDA as a tape recorder, makes his way through the teens' minds, piecing together their history, while at the same time dealing with his ongoing divorce. David himself has serious issues regarding anger management, which ended his former relationship.

House of Tales is a German game development studio founded by Martin Ganteföhr and Tobias Schachte. Ganteföhr served as both the writer and the creative director for the game. In a 2008 interview, he expresses his reasons for choosing such an intense topic (violence / psychology of aggression) as the theme for the game: "I chose the topic because it interests me, and is at least as worth to dedicate a game to as War on Mars. You see, making games is a very personal process for me. I have many questions about life, and as long as somebody is willing to listen, I will try to convey my thoughts and feelings in my games."[1]
You can feel the tension in David as he goes about his task. He has a past, and violence dwells therein. His present is not that relaxed either. Things aren't going well in his marriage, and his professional reputation seems a little shaky.
I won't tell you anything about what occurred to the 5 young patients, as finding that out is what Overclocked is about. Violence though is at its heart, as the name suggests. And a little violence begets a little more, as David knows too well.
The music drowns out the voices at times and changes in intensity and volume, so it's impossible to find an agreeable setting. I had mine set to the lowest setting and it was still louder than it needed to be. There aren't very many sound effects to speak of. I remember the constant call of a crow together with howling wind in one segment that was repeated too often and made me frown.
The Bottom Line
Overall, Overclocked is a decent adventure game that might appeal to fans of the genre, especially those who like mysteries of this kind. The gloomy atmosphere coupled with the strangeness of the story could put this title into the horror category. Children should not play this game because of the violence, blood and anger depicted in it.
The story of "Overclocked" is filled with violence and despair and doesn't sound uninteresting on paper. It takes place in the city of New York and casts you as a psychiatrist named David McNamara, who's an expert for post-traumatic amnesia. Your job is to reconstruct the lost memories of five young people, who seem to have shared a traumatic experience. When the police found them, the three men and two women were romping through the city, shooting with pistols, confused and unpredictable. As McNamara, you have to visit them in an old and run-down hospital on Staten Island to find out what happened. It's no safe job: some of them still behave aggressively and one patient even attacks David in the beginning.

Therefor it is the case that any gun not capable of use to threaten or actuate maiming and killing will not be the first choice of gun. The chosen gun could be used to perform a horrific act regardless of wielder. There are even events in history where soldiers have performed terrorist acts in their own country.
