Winter Races Counting for Points

Hi everyone,

After consulting with Courtney, she said that in the past there have usually been 5-6 races with any 3 counting for points per person. I am proposing the same pattern this winter but with four instead of three counting for points to account for the greater number of races offered. This would mean that athletes could compete in any of the eight winter races and their best four will count for points. This should give everyone some flexibility in choosing which races to attend.

I am asking you all to vote on this, with the voting period closing on Saturday 11/5 at midnight. Thank you all for your cooperation, I realize the winter race selection and point assignment process was a bit unclear. As always, if you have any questions feel free to email me.

This seems fair to me, Miami votes yes on this. If the Miami triathlon is held after nationals would it be scored for the spring or just count for the start of the summer season?

Wouldn't it would have to count for next season? Athletes would already had to have applied for nationals by that date, so scoring would be a mute point. It could be held as a pre nat tuneup with no points being allocated. Just my 2 cents.

If the race is after Nationals it will not count as part of the winter season. It could certainly be considered for the first race of the summer season, however we'd have to vote on this later.

Yeah it's fine if it is not on the Winter schedule, we can discuss it when the time comes.

Hi all,

For this season we will be counting four of the winter races. Any of the four can count per athlete, and any athlete competing in more than four will be scored on their best four finishes. We will definitely be voting on an ammendment to the constitution after Nationals to clarify the way we decide this number in the future. Thank you all for your help.

Correct, as long as the race is before Nationals it will count.
