Hello all,

This is to announce that Department Election for 2015-16 for the Department
of Mechanical Engineering will be held as per the schedule mentioned below.

1. Department G.Sec.
 Will act as student representative pertaining to all issues in the
department (Manifesto required)

2. MEA G.Sec.
 Will be in-charge of Mechanical Engineering Association (Manifesto required)

3. Dept. P.G.Nominee
 Will take care of all PG Academic affairs and represent PGs in the
department (Manifesto required)

4. Associate Secretaries (3 Posts)
Will assists Dept. GSec. and MEA GSec. in completing their respective
manifestos (Max 500 words SOP required)
5. PG Sports Nominee
To provide support to Dept PG students in PG Sports Fest and encourage
their affinity for Sports (Manifesto required)

6. PG Cult. Nominee
To provide support to Dept PG students in PG Cult Fest and encourage their
affinity for Cultural activities (Manifesto required)

7. Alumni Secretary
Manage all alumni related activities in the department and co-ordinate
with SARC (Max 500 words SOP required)

8. Class Representatives
Following CRs are to be elected:
2 CRs for to-be-4th year UG batch (currently in their 3rd yr) - 1 for BTech
and 1 for DDs
2 CRs for to-be-3rd year UG batch (currently in their 2nd yr) - 1 for BTech
and 1 for DDs
2 CRs for to-be-2nd year UG batch (currently in their 1st yr) - 1 for BTech
and 1 for DDs
3 CRs for to-be-2nd year PG batch (currently in their 1st yr) - 1 each for
Design, Thermal and Manufacturing.

*Timeline: *
Deadline for filing nomination:               23.59 hrs, 25th March (Wed)
Deadline for posting manifestos:          23.59 hrs, 29th March (Sun)
Deadline for withdrawal of nomination: 23.59 hrs, 29th March (Sun)
Campaigning starts:                              00.00 hrs, 30th March (Mon)
Campaigning ends:                               23.59 hrs, 3rd April (Fri)
Sopbox :                                         20.00 hrs 5th April (Sun)
Polling  :                                       6th April (Mon)
Results :                                        7th April (Tue)
All deadlines are to be followed strictly.

*Rules: *
1. *Contestant requirements*:
   a) All the contestants should have a clear academic record (No backlogs)
and must mail a copy of the ASC to us along with the mail for nominations.

   b) For the post of General Secretaries (MEA G.Sec and Department
G.Sec.), the candidate's stay must have been at least for 3 semesters in
the Department (5 semesters in IIT Bombay in case he is an Under-Graduate
and 3 semesters if he is a PostGraduate).

   c) For all other posts except Alumni Secretary, the candidate's stay
must have been at least for 1 semester in the Department (3 semesters in
IIT Bombay in case he is an Under-Graduate and at least 1 semester if he is
a Post-Graduate).
 d) The post of Alumni Secretary is open to all students of the
department.

   e) Energy Systems and IEOR departments are not a part of the MEA.

   f) The candidate must be having a stay of at least 1 more year in
terms of his academic commitments from the date of filing of nominations.

2. *Nomination rules*:

*Constraints on Manifesto*:

Margins: 0.75 Inches, Font Size: Times New Roman, 12Line spacing 1Page
Limit: 1 sheet, back to back, A4Maximum no. of signed manifestos 15

3. *Campaigning Rules*:
- Manifestos has to be duly signed by Sachin Kumar or Badri Lal Jat  before
starting the campaigning. The unsigned manifestos will be considered as
void.
- No online campaigning is allowed. If found guilty, the penalties will be
imposed which will be decided by council in consultation with HOD. All the
decisions in this case would be final.

In addition to this, nominations are also invited for the following posts
in addition to the above for which interviews will be conducted by next
council:
1) *Web Secretary* ( 1 Posts) : Will look at all Web related issues in the
department e.g. MEA Website <http://www.me.iitb.ac.in/~mea/>, MEME Blog
<http://memeiitb.wordpress.com/> etc. It is open for students of all
batches.
2) *MEME Team ( 1 Chief Editor + 1 UG Editors + 1 PG Editor)*: The
candidates should have stayed for a minimum of 3 Semesters for Chief
Editor. The 1 UG Editor and 1 PG Editor should have stayed for a minimum
of 1 Semester.

Hello All
Due to some reasons soapbox has been postponed to 6th April at 9 PM. Hence voting is also postponed to 7th April from 2PM to 2PM (on 8th April).
