Dear students,
As today being our "Right word wrong word" day, let's see some commonly confusable terms and how to effectively use them in both writing and speaking.
1. "Finally" and "after all".
a. So you did not have to pay a parking fine "after all"! (Not "Finally"). (i. e. in spite of what you thought)
b. We have "finally" decided to go away for the New year. (Not "after all"). (= after a process of e. g. hesitation).
2. "Find"
a. We "found him sleeping" under a tree. (Not "found him to sleep").
b. "I find/I am finding" that it's hard to keep a family on a single wage. (stative or dynamic depending on the emphasis you wish to give).
See you this Wednesday..... bye for now...
With best regards,
Prabhu swaminathan,
