Inviting applications for DAMP Mentors 2015-16

Hello everyone,

As discussed through the presentation, the Department Academic Mentorship Programme (DAMP), under the aegis of the Institute Student Mentorship Programme (ISMP) deals with students in undergraduate departments who are facing severe academic problems. The D-AMP mentors, along with the Faculty Advisors and Department Faculty Coordinators, work towards achieving this goal through early identification and constant monitoring of the students in question.

We hereby invite application for the positions of Department Academic Mentors (Mechanical), under the Department Academic Mentorship Programme for the academic year 2015-2016.

The prerequisites for an application are:

1. The applicant must currently be enrolled in Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Bombay as a 2nd/3rd year B.Tech/DD student or as a 4th year DD student.
   
2. The applicant must not have any active academic backlogs at the time of application.

Interested students are expected to thoroughly go through the DAMP Charter before applying, so as to get a good hang of what the privileges and duties of a DAMP Mentor are.

All interested students must fill up the application form by Saturday, 28th February 2015, 23:59 hrs. The form link is : http://goo.gl/forms/i2SvTJANCd

We want to make it absolutely clear that the selection process will be made quite detailed and extensive in order to filter out only those students who are sincerely motivated to take up this job. So we want you to take all the time you need to fill the form out properly. It is advised, totally optional, that the applicants meet a couple of previous mentors in order to make themselves one with the actual scenarios and challenges faced by a DAMP mentor.

We would like to address a few queries here:

1. DAMP and ISMP are independent, you can apply for both, and hold both positions simultaneously.
2. You can apply this time even if you had applied last year.

Lastly, don't wait until the last hour of the last day before sending in your application. We have often noticed that the IITB net connection does not tend to cooperate in the last hour before the deadline.
