i am working on my own mechaduino,i am having a doubt that can i use AS5047P instead of AS5047D and does it really matter on size of the magnet or can i use any size of the magnet .
i am going to use SAMD21G18A

The magnet needs to be diameteric, the size of the magnet determines the magnetic field strength hence you can use smaller magnet as long as you get enough field strength for the encoder chip.

You can also check out misfittech.net's smart steppers which used the SAMD21G18A.
