Hola MEChA de CSULA,

I hope the beginning of the Winter Quarter has been a successful one for you. I extend
positive energies and thoughts so that we get closer to obtaining our goals of completing our degree
in a timely manner with the end-goal of using our knowledge to uplift our particular communities.

The purpose of this email is to invite you to MEChA de CSULA first campus
meeting of the Winter Quarter on Monday, January 23rd at 3:15 pm in the Chicana/o Student
Resource Center (located in the Student Union on the 2nd floor).

In light of Arizona's recent ruling to declare Chicana/o Studies illegal and to further
create a climate of hatred and fear against our brothers and sisters in Arizona, I firmly
believe that it is important that we begin to come together on OUR own campus to not only join
in solidarity with the struggle of Arizona, but also to address critical community and educational issues
here on campus.

While right-wing legislation rules Chicana/o Studies illegal, here in California the use of
budget cutbacks threaten the existence of our programs. However, through unity
and organization we can begin to develop concrete responses that will give students and our community voice.

From Budget Cutbacks, to reduction of classes in Chicana/o Studies, to attacks against our
undocumented brothers and sisters, we must take initiative
to defend our rights to exist in our communities and on our campus.

Please join us and help spread the word to your friends on FaceBook, Twitter and any other social medium,
your classes, etc.  I thank you in advance.

When: Monday, January 23, 2012
Time: 3:15pm
Where: Chicana/o Student Resource Center
Who: MEChA de CSULA (First Meeting of the Winter 2012 Quarter)

In Unity,

David Cid
