Regarding the "Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal" award.

The "Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal for Academic and General Proficiency" was instituted in the year 1994 by the IITB Senate from an endowment made by Honourable Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, then President of India. This award is meant to recognize students' academic attainments as well as contributions to the enrichment of community and national life, performing arts, fine arts, technical arts and technology, providing leadership and organizational skills, exemplary moral and ethical behaviour in the service of the community. The selection is based on overall evaluation of the student's scolastic and other achievements. The award, which includes a gold medal and a citation, will be presented at the Annual Convocation.

 

All UG and PG students passing out in the academic year 2011-12 and Ph.D. students who have submitted their thesis will be eligible for the award.

 

Our Department has to nominate some candidates for the same. All students who wish to be nominated from our Department should send a short SOP, not more than 1 page, containing the following:

1. Name and Roll no.

2. Academic Performance (10th, 12th std percentages, CPI) and Research Work, if any.

3. Extra curricular activities (Cultural, Org, Tech, Sports, or any other field mentioned above), and awards & accolades in the same.
