This note to ME/CFS members, is to see if there is interest in joining a book club to discuss the book by Toni Bernhard, “How to be Sick – a Buddhist Inspired Guide for the Chronically Ill and Their Caregivers”.
Toni has ME/CFS. She became ill on a trip to Paris and never recovered. She has experienced the pain and frustration of living with this very difficult illness.
Praise for Toni’s book:
“Toni Bernhard offers a lifeline to those whose lives have been devastated by illness, and shows us all how to transform suffering into peace and even joy”. Lynn Royster, director of the Chronic Illness Initiative at DePaul University.
It is not a long read and as Toni is sick herself, she has written the book in short chapters that are easy to comprehend. We will read one (or perhaps two), chapters per week and discuss them together, supporting each other in coping with illness and disability. Discussion questions will be available as a guide if needed. The group will meet once a week for 8 to 10 weeks. Each session will begin and end with a 10 minute guided relaxation or meditation.
If you are interested in joining this book club/support group, please send either -
• a notecard to Dianne Elton in Second Life:
