Hello everyone. I hope your semester is going well. This semester will probably be a little more laid back in terms of meetings and events. Most events will be specifically important to students in the MES department; and Katy will also still be holding regular dardasha's to any students enrolled in Arabic classes (look for an email from her soon!) The first important event or eventS rather for the semester are: attending as many of the lectures by the prospective faculty members (see below) as you can, and then we will hold a meeting where ALL students in the MES department should give their opinion to the faculty and staff. This is our chance to have an effect on departmental decisions and have our ideas be heard. If everyone can not attend the survey meeting, then we will hold a few so that everyone one of you will have the opportunity to put in their opinion. The surveys will be taken by the MECC and you can remain confidential, the only requirement is that you are a student in the department, and we will turn in your comments...

**Also note that if anyone knows of any Middle Eastern related events or has an idea for a speaker or outing (on the town for food or movies etc) just email me at agr...@mail.utexas.edu and we will send out a notice to all members who are interest to join in the fun and learning..... Instead of MECC dues this semester, we can just have potlucks and pay for our individual cost related to any of our events. Khair inshaallah :)
