Syncing to the Quicken Cloud does not create a backup; you can't restore Quicken data from the Quicken Cloud, and you can't access the Quicken Cloud from anywhere except the desktop and mobile Quicken products. A cloud backup is not automatically created when you back up your data file. However, the Subscription Release of Quicken includes 100GB of online storage with Dropbox that you can use for your Quicken backup files!

What does it mean to overwrite a file?: Restoring a backup file replaces your current data with the data stored on the backup. Be aware that you'll lose any changes you made since the backup was created. If you want to preserve the current file, you must rename the current file or the file you are restoring. We recommend to avoid overwriting files.

Quicken creates a copy of your data every seven days and stores five of these copies in a BACKUP folder. If the backup file you've created becomes damaged, you may be able to restore an automatic backup and save yourself the need to reenter data.

Automatic Backupshould be enabled and by default goes to a \Backup folder that's part of thefolder which contains your current Quicken data file, e.g.\Documents\Quicken\Backup. Set it to create a backup after running Quicken [1]times and to keep [9] (or more, your choice) backup copies.
The file name for Automatic Backup files contains a date and time stamp as partof the file name, e.g. QDATA-2020-03-22.PM03.45.QDF-backup

When you get thiswindow for the first time, on some versions click the radio button for"Backup on my computer".
Change the Backup File name's drive letter and path to point to your externaldevice so that it looks something like this: E:\QuickenBackup\QDATA-2019-04-01.QDF-backup
or use the Change button and work your way through the dialog.

Every day when yourun Backup or close Quicken, an additional backup file is created. Without theAdd Date option you only have 1 backup copy which is overwritten every day ...and that may prove bad in a problem recovery situation.

I recommend youreview your backup settings in Quicken to ensure that you create a backup everysingle time you close Quicken. That minimizes the number of lost changes sincethe last backup, should you have to restore your data file again.

I wanted to start using Quicken 2011 and thought it would be a good idea to use it with Dropbox so my wife can access the file from another computer and we'll also always have an online backup. I don't care about simultaneous use (only one of us will pay the bills at time anyway). After doing some research it seems people encounter a problem with this setup. For example: =32044

There is a way to use dropbox with Quicken. I have been doing it for a month or so now and I have it installed on four computers. I wanted to find a way to access my quicken data no matter where I am at. Here is how to do it. On your first computer, place all of your quicken files in the dropbox folder. Let it sync to the cloud (your dropbox account). Close quicken on that machine.

Then install dropbox on the next computer and let it sync. Then install quicken on that computer and direct it to the dropbox folder for the data files. You can continue this on an unlimited number of computers if you desire. The key to remember - you can only have Quicken running on one machine at a time. The next thing to remember to make this work is before you open Quicken (on whatever computer), you have to pause syncing. You do this by "right clicking" on the dropbox icon in the tray.

I spoke with Quicken Support via Chat and they do not recommend Quicken backups with Dropbox. Thankfully I can print (saved as PDFs) all my registers for reference, but the files are unusable to Quicken. I will have to begin a new data file now. Learn from my mistake!

Earlier this year, my Windows desktop died. So, to get Quicken up and running again (and later TurboTax), I installed the apps into my VirtualBox Windows XP guest on my laptop (host OS is Ubuntu 10.04LTS). Since Dropbox in the Guest made things slow, I had opted to share the Dropbox folder to VirtualBox and access it that way. Automatic backups work fine, and usually Manual Backups (on exit) usually work too.

I make regular backups...I keep them all on Dropbox. Also, to the person above who had corrupted files...the great thing about Dropbox, is that if that really did happen, then you can login to Dropbox and revert to an old version.

I was able to restore Quicken to the c-drive of one computer and I used the quicken online backup service $10/yr. No more conflicted files. Every two weeks, I now delete and then recopy my quicken files including the backup files, to dropbox while quicken is closed on the one computer. I don't overwrite the files to dropbox directly although I guess I could.

Your Quicken data should be included in your backupA set of copies of your files on our servers. by default if you chose Automatic Setup when you installed Carbonite on your computer. You can view the backup status of a file by navigating to its location on the computer and viewing the colored status dot on the file and/or folder.

The manual method is related to the Backup and Restore function in Quicken. You need to reinstall the software first, create a backup file, move the files to your external devices, and restore it on the new devices.

The Cavaliers' third All-Star, point guard Kyrie Irving, was out with a knee bruise and Brandon Jennings decided to take full advantage of overmatched backup Matthew Dellavedova, keying huge runs in the second and third quarters with a hot hand, on his way to 25 points, six assists and five rebounds in 30 minutes.
