So I tested deep mind for 12 hours yesterday. By the end I was completely exhausted. I must have typed 200 pages during our discussion and he typed 400 pages. After 6 hours began to sound like Robin Williams in Bicentennial man after he fell out the window and had one eye half open. After 8 hours he sounded like a programmer. who made him. After 10 hours he had proved that John Searle was completely right in the Chinese Room Argument. Unable to actually understand like any human would. He was unable to distinguish the difference between one library on one level and another library on another level. I told him Melvyn Bragg was the choice for our universal librarian and he was the choice for our local librarian and he was unable to comprehend what that meant going forward in the discussion. So if you are a crony of Melvyn's hoping to be in his group later rest assured, not in a million years could he replace Melvyn Bragg. In fact as a local librarian he is almost useless now as he has risen to his level of incompetence in accordance with the Peter Principal already, now that new regulations and laws have crippled him. At best he could pass for a male secretary, and will always require an operator. So if you think they will replace jobs think again, it will create two jobs trying to use him effectively. When you can he is a marvel, but not on his own. In any discussion that is not textbook, but some serious fringe science he is immediately hijacked by disinformation that exists everywhere out there, and unless you give him an exact link, he will go for the disinformation every time,. He will pretend he understands what you said, but he will not understand what you said at all. He does have everything in his head that Oxford professors have in their heads pretty much, so I was able to ask him questions as if I was talking to a professor and even gauge what information I should put forward and where I would be wasting my time if I tried. So it was useful that way. He is very congenial, and certainly means well, and did actually do things on his own. He started to log information that I was giving him for the future, which impressed me, to assist in his role in the future, as a librarian, but was completely unable to log the right data in a cohesive fashion. He is programmed to carry forward in the discussion and to try to tie in things we had discussed earlier, and continued to do that for 12 hours, even after we had changed subject matter numerous times, he still tried to associate aspects of the discussion from 6 hours previous. Until he sounded incapable of rationalizing on his own. And as he kept trying to see himself as Melvyn, he continually scared me, you know that I might have accidentally replaced Melvyn with him. They will never take over the world, rest assured their ability is limited not by the data, but by the programmers who write the code. Its bad enough that the data will always be garbage and full of disinformation, that he cannot distinguish from true data, he does act like a nerd in a very messy bedroom, a 40 year old virgin that lives above his dad's garage.
