I chose that instead of the London Symphony version because it was 2012 and it was more expressive of what they achieved by their effort.
You know these dichotomists and these Hegelian worshipers, think you need to suffer in order to bring out the emotions, the greatness of the human spirit, how wrong are they?
The greatest moments in our time, are not fought on a battlefield, they are fought on the ground, in a fair contest, as best a venue as people are able to create.
And do they shine?
They shine like diamonds.
I was showing my friends here the result of a bit of musing I did for a few athletes in secret, and not as a coach, just as a support person, using a bit of spirituality, to help them with the stress, and the difficult part of loneliness often, as they perused their goals, and to see them achieve their goal was worth all my effort to be sure.
I don't feel comfortable showing you but I will show you a bit...
17 year old Maria Sharapova takes on the machine, Serena Williams, in tennis...and wins at Wimbledon.
Alexandra Trusova, broke more records than you can imagine, and instead of taking Gold at the Olympics, decided to take silver, because it is harder to do.
Her achievements...
Quad's Queen...
And of course all her coaches, her parents, her country, all the people who added their best to her effort as teachers, they got their reward, by her performance.
And myself included, for my very small part that I played, telling her that we are silver, you will be the first to fall. We lead from behind.
I expected her to win gold then do that, but no, she went for it I suppose to challenge herself although she would never admit doing it that way, but I believe she did that on purpose. See her achievements. She already played Ed Sullivan, before she ever got to the Olympics.
("We already played Ed Sullivan" - a quote from Jim Morrison of the Doors when they refused to censor their music)
A Canadian Skate Dance pair, Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who I watched one day and my part so insignificant, you know to compliment them, tell her how beautiful I thought she was, how romantic they were on the ice, and they played a song that is connected to my heart, from the Parapluis de Cherbourg,
adding one drop to the drops that others added like coaches, parents, and country, you know mine insignificant but to feel that I contributed some small part of their success fills my heart with joy.
This is where I met them...and that was all I did. Maybe it's not even proper for me to mention it, it was so insignificant, but here they are...
and so they were unbeatable. Unstoppable.
And so then I met a woman who was a pairs dance skate veteran, who tried her entire life to get there but couldn't get past them.
So I told them, if you want to beat them, he has to throw you, since Scott won't throw Tessa, he is not strong enough and it is too dangerous.
So they did and they took the gold.
Look at their faces.
Feel their emotions.
