Theme of Vol. 2 : Re-reading Rey Chow
Journal Language: Chinese (Both Simplified and Traditional Chinese are acceptable)
Objectives
Rey Chow (周蕾)'s research comprises theoretical, interdisciplinary, and textual analyses. Since her years as a graduate student at Stanford University, she has specialized in the making of cultural forms such as literature and film (with particularattention to East Asia, Western Europe, and North America), and in the discursive encounters among modernity, sexuality, postcoloniality, andethnicity. In her current work, Chow is concerned with the legacies ofpoststructuralist theory (in particular the work of Michel Foucault), the politics of language as a postcolonial phenomenon, and the shifting paradigms for knowledge and lived experience in the age of visual technologies and digital media.
As one of the most representative Chinese ethnic theorist, scholarship on Chow in Chinese language is very limited, only two of her books are translated into Simplified Chinese.Vol. 2 of Siyi journal aims to fill in the gap, and at the same time wishes to built an intellectual bridge between the humanities scholars in China and those who work overseas.
