I wanted to make sure you heard about CCAN's upcoming picnic and celebration. Please see the invitation from Mike Tidwell below for all the details. As you may know, we're celebrating our 10th birthday this year and our party won't be complete without our closest friends in the movement. I hope you can come! There will be FREE food, music, and fun!
Rock on,
Meg
YOU’RE INVITED!
Do you like old-fashioned picnics with lemonade and barbeque and kids playing tag to the sound of live banjo picking?
Well, mark your calendar for Saturday, September 29th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. That’s when CCAN will celebrate its 10th birthday with a free picnic extravaganza at Rock Creek Park in Washington, DC. We want to celebrate with food, games and fun to thank you for all your support over the years.
Alongside our partners and volunteers, CCAN has achieved much in our first 10 years. In the last twelve months alone, we’ve helped to stop the most recent coal-fired power plant proposal in Virginia, organized toward a major breakthrough for offshore wind farms in Maryland, and helped to mobilize peaceful sit-ins at the White House to stop the Keystone XL tar sands oil pipeline. We’ve built a bold and vibrant community to fight the great crisis of climate change -- and I know we’ll keep achieving victories if we keep standing together. But on September 29th, we carved out some time to just have fun, eat good food and spend time with our friends.
Please: Sign up for our free birthday picnic on 9/29 so we can honor you!
Clearly our work isn’t over. Arctic ice continues to melt at an appalling rate as heat waves, droughts and extreme storms intensify worldwide. That’s why we value your continued support. There’s much still to do in the coming months and years. But right now, let’s celebrate what we’ve already accomplished together.
Please: Sign up for our free birthday picnic on 9/29 so we can honor you!
You really don’t want to miss our big picnic on the 29th. Bring your friends. Bring your family. Bring your dog. And bring an appetite. Rumor has it that even “Bongo the Clown” will be there to dazzle the same kids -- your kids -- whose future we’re trying to save!
See you on the 29th -- and thanks in advance for helping CCAN celebrate 10 strong years in the fight for clean energy and a safe climate.
Best,
Mike Tidwell
