Since joining this group, I got a Honda Metropolitan. 2005 with Kanji
graphics.. I had it just a week, and I was on the way to your ride
last week, and it got stolen.

If you see a white Honda met. with dark blue rear fenders and front
with Japanese writing all over it, call the police right away.. Don't
ask questions or anything. Let the police handle it as police report
was filed. The VIN was titled with MVA, so when they run the VIN, it
will come back as a hit. It was stolen in NE baltimore city, out of a
back yard in Belair-Edison.

any help will be appreciated..

For those of us that are newer to scooting, how does one go about registering a VIM with the MVA?  Is that only for scoots that need to be tagged, or can you do the same for a lowly 50cc scoot as well?  Side note, looking through Craigs list, it seems the Metro Baltimore are is turning out to be a hotbed for scooter theft. I'm glad I have an attack dog in my yard.

If you received a title for you scooter it is most likely because the
certificate of origin for the vehicle has the word "Motorcycle" in
its text. My 50cc scooter is officially a motorcycle as far as the
MVA is concerned because of the wording of the certificate of origin,
even though the vehicle meets all physical requirements of a vehicle
defined as a scooter ( the definition under Maryland law) which would
normally NOT be subject to registration or possession of a motorcycle
license.. the MVA WILL NOT ISSUE a title for a 50cc scooter, if they
do it will be a "class D" title which for all intents and purposes
turns your lowly 50cc into a motorcycle and is now subject to
motorcycle registration AND licensing AND plates. Any scooter ABOVE
50cc is officially a motorcycle and subject to all regulations that a
motorcycle is. If you are purchasing a new 50cc scooter from a dealer
with the hopes of avoiding the MVA make certain that the certificate
of origin from the manufacturer does not describe it as a Motorcycle,
do not let the dealer brush you off on this. It is ridiculous and
makes no sense but thats the way it is.

You will see it. I haunted the police every time I saw a cop I gave him the description and the story left my cell at the district desk different shift. Talk to the reporting officer once every 4 days. They found it twelve days later and arrested the guy riding down Harford road 6'4am @ 2am. They called me immediately. Well with the totalling and the depreciation I bought a Strada 150 not bad much faster of course, but no where near as solid on the road. Even totalled I wish I would have kept now. My lesson big 100$ super non-cutable chain back wheel, always register and insure even if you don't ride tags.

Keep the language to a minimum please.

That's unfortunate, its real hard to own such a piece in the city like that without being worried about it getting stolen.

actually, Sheldon Ave. is where my fiance lives! right at Sheldon and
Kavon.. (I live in Lauraville).. She has been there for 3 years, and
will soon move over to Lauraville with me and she will become a
landlord, hopefully..
the dirt-bag quotient there is pretty high... the 4 little bastards
that lifted the scooter (there was an eyewitness down the back alley,
who of course could not offer a description) sent a decoy to the front
door.. I'll recognize the moon-faced fu@#*er anywhere.. as a matter of
fact, my friend and I saw him hanging with his thug friends in front
of the beauty salon beside the chinese carry out on belair, and he got
real scared.. But, who knows what will happen if I got out of the car
with all the suspicious activity going down on that corner.. of
course, the police wouldn't do anything because he didn't have the
scooter..
