Accommodation is available on nominal charge at National Institute of TB and Respiratory Diseases on first cum first serve basis on nominal charges of INR 400 per day.

Out station candidates have to make their own arrangement for travel.

Objectives of the training:
Orientation to the National Airborne Infection Control Guidelines, Government of India
Bio-aerosol behavior in indoor spaces, effects of humidity, sunlight and other factors
Engineering interventions in the context of comprehensive infection control plan for tuberculosis, and other airborne agents.
Hospital design and space utilization for optimal control of airborne infections
Natural and Mechanical Ventilation, engineering Directional airflow: design and measurement of relative room pressures for isolation
HVAC Design, planning, implementation and maintenance.
Air-filtration in-duct and free-standing room air disinfection units: use, selection, limitations and maintenance
Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation (UVGI) air disinfection: theory, system design, fixtures, UVGI measurement, safety, limitations and maintenance. Upper room versus UVGI in ducts or room air cleaning devices
Strengthening ART centres, Intensive respiratory care centres, isolation units, and other high aerosol generation sites.
Understanding monitoring and evaluation mechanisms in regard to AIC.
Laboratory design and Biosafety cabinets – planning and designing spaces for laboratory strengthening

Expected Outcomes of the Training:
-Able to explain the principles of infection control and key elements of National AIC Guidelines
-Understanding of the hierarchy of infection control measures
-Comprehensive understanding of environmental control measures for airborne infection prevention and control
-Able to understand how HVAC designs are made for specific type of settings, and know the planning and implementation for the same. In addition would be able to understand the importance of maintenance and how it is to be carried out.
-To be able to apply principles of building design and environmental interventions like natural, mechanical ventilation, filtration and UVGI to Health Care and Special Settings in daily practice.
-To be able to understand considerations for design, planning and implementation of measures in high risk sites.
