Hi,

slightly off-topic but you might nevertheless be interested to hear that Philip Fowler at the University of Oxford held a "Software Carpentry" workshop that included MDAnalysis.

Software Carpentry teaches scientist the ~10% of software engineering techniques that cover about 90% of what you need to know in order to successfully and efficiently do science with computers (Disclaimer: I pulled those percentages out of my hat...). I really like their approach.

What I found particularly encouraging is that in the feedback on the workshop a large majority of participants said that they agreed or strongly agreed to the question "I intend to use [MDAnalysis] to help my research". This is really a testament to Phil's advocacy and his great practical examples and everyone here who has been contributing to MDAnalysis, be it code, bug reports, examples, or good questions.
