The test failure is curious and unexpected because our own tests on Windows pass. But there might be something about your set-up that we didn’t consider.
Although we would like to figure out what’s happening (and possibly fix it), it should not be a problem for you unless you need to use the hole2 analysis module (where the test fails). Everything else in MDAnalysis is working.
Furthermore, the test checks a hacky workaround in the hole2 module that you might never need (namely, shortening file names). Still, we want the tests to pass on ALL machines. Can you provide more information on how you installed MDAnalysis (which version, which operating system, for you as a user or system-wide…)?
