Baltimore Checkerspot near adult flight time in Frederick/Washington Co

Headed out in the heat before the storms around Frederick to check on some of the Baltimore Checkerspot populations in western Frederick/eastern Washington counties. A little early for the adults, as this last or penultimate instar confirms (which has moved off of turtlehead to an alternate host, as late instars do, in this case narrow-leaved plantain). This plantain is the primary host for many New England checkerspot colonies.
