Subject: Recommendations for insect photography / light / UV
To: Gunnar Brehm <gunnar...@uni-jena.de>

Dear colleagues,

last week, I presented a new paper at the SEL conference in the Czech
Republic, which I would like to share with you here.

It contains recommendations on the use of good light sources when
photographing insects. Since light quality cannot be reliably assessed
with the eye, this aspect has often played a surprisingly minor role up
to now, potentially resulting in problems with image quality and
quantitative image analysis.

I present (relatively) affordable solutions for photographing individual
insects, entire insect drawers, and wet samples. The paper also explains
the importance of image information in the UV range. Please feel free to
forward the link to colleagues and let me know if you have queries.

Kind regards

Gunnar Brehm
