Green Ridge SF count is *ON* for July 12 (rain date July 13)

We had a very nice response from folks who are interested in the summer count, so I'm confirming that we will conduct the count on Saturday, July 12.

I'll follow up this week with everyone who has responded so far (to the original call or to me directly) and discuss some tentative sector assignments -- we want to ensure good coverage of Northern Metalmark habitat. 

One change I'll flag here -- while we will still meet at 9 am (in the parking lot of the Oak Barrel Cafe), I'm moving up the tally rally time to 5 pm.  Most of us are on the verge of heat stroke by then anyway.  Haven't decided yet whether we will return to the Oak Barrel for the rally or our usual haunt in Hancock (Buddy Lou's).  

That give us a respectable morning sector time of 10-1 and 1-4; all the sectors are selected so they can be done in roughly 3 hours or less.  I'll double up on some sectors so we get a morning and an afternoon count, since metalmarks are famously episodic during the day.

And speaking of Green Ridge, I conducted a Breeding Bird Survey through a portion of Green Ridge over the past weekend. While scouting the route on Saturday, I found some patches of blooming butterfly weed in a powerline right-of-way along Harry Norris Road just NW of Swain Hollow Road. There were several great spangled fritillaries, one gray hairstreak, one coral hairstreak, and one summer azure. I got photos of all but the coral hairstreak who departed before I got my camera out.
