In my back yard yesterday in West Laurel (just north of Konterra)
The butterfly bush attracted at least 2 Southern Broken Dashes, several Huron Sachems, what looked like a Northern Broken Dash
and a Delaware Skipper (a first for my yard!).
An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and several Silver Spotted Skippers were also visiting.
I have had Huron Sachems coming pretty regularly since July but in low numbers.
I have also had a Tawny Edge Skipper show up recently.
A Wild Indigo Duskywing visits the Mountain Mint flowers.

In most years I see a Southern Broken Dash in my back yard in the late summer.
Overall, numbers of butterflies in my yard are down this year.
Very few Swallowtails and Nymphalids.
Even Cabbage White numbers are down.

In McKee Beshers yesterday I saw a Common Sootywing.
other butterflies at McKee Beshers yesterday:
11 Spicebush Swallowtails
5 Monarchs
2 Buckeyes
3 Silver Spotted Skippers
1 Eastern Comma (fresh female)
3 Zabulon Skippers (there were probably more)
2 Red Spotted Purples
7 Pearl Crescents
5 Zebra Swallowtails (photographed a worn female trying to oviposit on a weed that was obviously not Paw Paw)
1 Eastern Tailed Blue
1 Orange Sulphur
2 Eastern Tiger Swallowtails
1 Least Skipper
1 Sleepy Orange
1 Viceroy
1 Questionmark (fresh male)
