Normally, the summer butterfly count in Green Ridge State Forest (mostly to monitor population stability of Northern Metalmark in the most productive habitat for them in the world!) would be
Saturday, July 12. But it's peak annual count season, not to mention summer travel season, and last year we had difficulty mustering enough folks and enthusiasm to do a summer count here.
So this summer I'm going to ask first before making plans. How many of you want the count to go forward, and who can commit to this date for a butterfly count? (or for the rain date of Junly 13)
I am loathe to change the date forward or backward, since historically we've been on or around this date for every count we've done here, and if we go forward with a 2025 census, I'd want to keep it as close to that date as we can.
Thoughts?
