if there is nothing on desktop
and a song playing desktop 2

I want only to hear the music from desktop 2 when I'm on desktop 2

If that is too complicated, just make 1 desktop mute the sound and
switching to desktop 2 unmute again

I like this feature a lot. This will be a plugin for sure. I'll make a
separate project for plugins to try and clean this up a bit.
