Recent issues of Invicta have made reference to a darker shade of blue being used for repaints, which from the next issue forwards we're intending on referring to as "2026 Arriva", differentiating from "2017". The "Journey Mark" (or Journeymark, or JourneyMark) designation appears to refer to the original plan for a large Stagecoach-style 'A' on the rear of buses, which was never actually fitted, although the name stuck.

It's a gentle change, designed to be easier to source and expected to be less prone to fading than the original shade. Although it is relatively easy to spot with the eye, it's incredibly difficult to photograph! Low light conditions actually seem to be better at reflecting the difference.

So, although this looks like it would be more suited to a "Mundane in Medway" thread, you'll just have to believe me that 4264 is indeed in the new shade of blue, when seen here in the unmistakable surroundings of Chatham Bus Station shortly after re-entering service on 21st May. The picture also shows off some of the changes to the bus station layout, with the previous two way road here now firmly one way, as denoted by the "no entry" marking under the bus.

Chris

interestingly at least one of the BYD BD11 deckers for Arriva North East has gained the "Journey Mark" large A logo, so I wonder if it might become more common at last...

I would imagine this was only for demonstration purposes given the fact the brick was also on show at the launch.

Despite not being short of things to do, this sent me on a Googling trail earlier this evening. Although the vehicles are finished in the earlier, "2017" shade, some of them do indeed have a "Journey Mark" above the doors. This example is obviously at a trade event, but pictures are on Facebook (and other social media) with it having been retained whilst vehicles are on driver familiarisation: https://wmbusphotos.com/ArrivaUK/NE/80XX.html

Rather like the difference in shades, it is quite difficult to see in certain lights, so it remains to be seen whether this will eventually be added as a livery item to repaints elsewhere, seemingly in place of the "swoops", or whether it will only be on new/electric/some other reason vehicles!
