Necessary infrastructure at the new site is not likely to be ready for a considerable time, so diesel vehicles will be used initially, probably Citaros displaced from type conversions at Northumberland Park and Orpington.

A few more pictures taken at the Irizar factory on 26 June 2024.

To qualify Nicholas's comment about the late start of full operations of all the new electric vehicles, this is also partly down to late delivery of the vehicles themselves, not all of which will arrive before the spring - the current plan is for the first few (understood to be five, probably to be numbered IE21-5) to be used on the new service E between Castle Hill and Gravesend only from November (when the temporary operation of C2 by Go-Coach is due to finish).   Diesel vehicles (MEC-class Citaros from the 358 and possibly elsewhere, once these are released) will be used on the rest of the Fastrack network and will be replaced in phases as the main batch of new vehicles (which by extension will be IE26-48) are commissioned, between November and the spring of 2025.  All of this is partly because TfL require the first twenty vehicles (IE1-20) to be available for use on the 358 in London.  But it is also true that the new Dartford base for GoAhead has yet to be fully commissioned for electric vehicles for Fastrack so that work will take a few more months to complete.

The appearance of IE21 is only temporary as the full design of the livery has yet to be finalised and vinyls applied.

Some further pictures (in two instalments) taken (though not by me) at the Irizar factory on 26th June 2024 prior to delivery.

I thought Stagecoach had won the Fastrack Dover service but this https://www.go-fastrack.co.uk/fastrack-news/fastrack-vehicle-delivery/ reads to me like Go-Ahead have it?

I can confirm that GoAhead will not be running the Dover Fastrack, they are only running the Thameside Fastrack Network.

Simon,
The article clearly says that these are for the Dartford to Gravesend service.

Regards.

I'm not sure it does - the Fastrack website is a KCC presence rather than Go-Ahead, is it not?

No, this press release relates to the Gravesham Fastrack operation, which is passing from Arriva to Go-Ahead in November.  The Dover operation is a separate matter.

It "clearly" does not...

"The arrival of the electric buses marks the first of a fleet of 28 expected to be delivered over the course of the next few weeks. These will be coupled with the delivery of 5 further buses which for the Dover Fastrack Network will form the new electric Fastrack fleet."
Mention of both fleets.

"In addition to the arrival of these vehicles, construction will soon commence on the charging infrastructure which will be used to support the operation of the electric fleet. This project will allow for charging infrastructure to be installed at the Gravesend bus hub, Dartford Acacia Hall, and Dover Priory Station for the Dover services. These will also be supported by the instillation of chargers at relevant depots for both the Thameside and Dover Networks."
Mention of both depots, albeit a bit vague.

"The buses will be operated by our partners at Go-Ahead who have recently signed a 15 year contract which will take affect this November. The introduction of the new operator and the new electric fleet will provide Kent residnets (sic) with a reliable and eco-friendly service designed to travel to key areas in both the Thameside and Dover areas."
Only one operator mentioned there, Go-Ahead.

Whatever the article says or implies, Club members will know, from recent coverage in Invicta, that Stagecoach are the preferred bidders for the Dover network.

My latest understanding, as at last weekend, is that vehicles for the Dover scheme have yet to be ordered, and its start date (together with associated changes to the existing town service network) has been subject to further slippage.

As far as Dover goes, the big issue now is the proposed contraflow in Pencester Road which has created much opposition.
