Today saw the last day of operation of the two Postbus services centred on Gravesend, to Bean/Betsham and Fairseat/Stansted/Hodsoll Street.  With the remaining routes in Kent (Chatham-Rochester-Cooling), Sussex and Surrey having finished on 4th April, this leaves just the Sittingbourne-Wormshill route as the last remaining Postbus not only in Kent but in the south east generally.

My attempt to get a photo of the Stansted service on Tuesday 14th April failed dismally as the vehicle failed to appear, but it reminded me that prior to the Postbus starting there had been no buses serving Stansted for several years before that - however Horlocks of Northfleet ran a Saturday morning shoppers bus from the area from the early 1960s up till just before deregulation, and I managed to get a picture of it waiting to depart from Gravesend town centre on 3rd March 1984, when the vehicle in use was former London Country BL14, a Bristol LHS6L with ECW B35F body, technically on hire from the associated AC Travel Ltd company.
