AKS 6402 on the 71 on Thursday

I chose a good day to visit the area last Thursday as the last of the "Operation Overdrive" ALX400 Volvo B7TLs, 6402, was on the 71 instead of it's usual trundle to the hospital and back. Here it is at Lunsford Park at the start of an inbound journey.

It's not the first time I've pictured a last of batch vehicle on the 71. A mere 42 years ago, on 31st March 1984, I pictured 6069 (69 YKT) at Larkfield on the 71, by then the last in service of the first batch of 35 Northern Counties lowheight bodied Daimler Fleetlines - and also having completed more than 20 years service with its original owner.
