I hope it's ok to send this to you. There may be some members who are not aware of this.
For personal reasons, Sue & I have reluctantly decided to sell our beloved bus No. 26.
26 is a Leyland Titan PD2A/30, new to Maidstone Corporation in 1963. The bus will be sold as seen, with no known faults. (apart from the saloon heaters which don’t work - we’ve never fixed them because we don’t use the bus in the winter!). It had new rear springs fitted in 2020, and new front springs last year. As it is taxed as a historic commercial vehicle, no MOT is required. However, it has had regular safety inspections, and it passed a full brake test last June. It was last given a PSV MOT in 2017, when it was taxed for commercial use by its previous owner. No substantial changes have been made since that time, nor have any major faults arisen. Road tax is zero, and it can be driven on a car licence, provided there are no more than 8 passengers.
I believe that there will be some of you who will be interested in making an offer for this iconic piece of Maidstone’s history.
If you are seriously interested in buying No. 26, please send me a private message, and I will give you an idea of the price I am looking for
If you have any questions, or if you would like to see more photos, please send me a pm with your phone number or email address, and I will contact you.
We hope someone will be able to enjoy No. 26 as much as we have. What about you, Ratty??
