As part of the East Sussex BSIP changes in the summer, Compass Travel (the new trading name of Compass Bus, as carried on the vehicle) service 228 was largely trimmed back from Tunbridge Wells to run as as a local service in Crowborough and Jarvis Brook only, and increased to half-hourly for parts of the day, around driver's breaks.
In the process, this reduced Compass Travel's only presence in Kent to a schoolday working in east direction to and from Tunbridge Wells Boys Grammar School (via Showfields and the town centre).
4121, one of many (but far from identical) E200s in the fleet, was the vehicle in question on 1st July. The notice in the windscreen advises that the bus is on diversion, in a perhaps destination screen-friendlier, but rather less-neat version of Arriva's supplementary destination display. It's seen at the Great Hall Arcade, opposite the railway station, where the BBC logo on the window reminds us of the ever decreasing local radio presence run from that building.
