The options outlined, intended to entirely replace the current setup of Kent County Council, Medway Council and twelve District/Borough/City Councils, range from a single unitary council covering the whole of Kent to 3, 4 or 5 councils covering different parts of the County. This could take effect from as soon as April 2028, depending on the outcome of the consultation and broader events between now and then.
