Thanet Bus Day

Whilst the Invicta proofreaders were beavering away on Sunday, I was able to escape from behind the desk and visit the Thanet Bus Day, based at the Spitfire Museum in Manston, for the first time. 

Small but perfectly formed, the mini-running day offers a variety of routes to various parts of Thanet, including a final "mass departure" at 1640. 

Olympian H801 BKK was the newest vehicle present and "just visiting" for the morning, but looking resplendent as the only vehicle - I think - in 1986-1993 East Kent livery. HKE 867 needs no introduction to Club members, and was in fine fettle after suffering a puncture at Faversham in May. 

RFN953G is another regular on the local preservation scene and looked very shiny in the sun (despite the fact I've pictured it in the shade...), whilst WJG 470J has just changed owners (details in said Invicta), and having been my carriage back to Margate station at the end of the day is seen in the company of 15103 in this year's livery for the 69. 

Probably didn't drop as many coins into the charity collection (Cats in Crisis Thanet) tins as I should have, but will be one for my list again next year. The cafe is pretty decent, too...

Good to see WJG470J back attending events again, especially when some formally Preserved vehicles that come up for sale or change owners, have a habit of ending up as Non PCV's or as living acomodation...
