Regent Coaches Routes 620 & 667 no longer using Canterbury Bus Station from 01/09/2021 and SN56 EOB on the 620.

Hi all.

Just to let everyone know that following a posting by Regent Coaches today (31/08/2021) that their routes 620 & 667 from 01/09/2021 will no longer pick up or set down in Canterbury Bus Station and will use Stop E4 outside Whitefriars instead and it appeared that this may have already been in operation earlier as I popped out this evening to see if I could get the last working to serving the Bus Station which it did not and only used the stop outside as stated and still here a couple of photos of their VW LT 46 SN56 EOB on the last 620 journey of the day.

Correct me if I am wrong? This means this effectively an end of an era of nearly 35 years of Kent Independents on bus work using Canterbury Bus Station (I mean using the dedicated bays etc not the outside) since deregulation and is now exclusively Stagecoach except for the National Express services for the time being.

Drew’s used stops within the bus station from the mid-1960s until their demise in the mid-1970s.  I do not have my finger on the exact dates at the moment.

Who owns Canterbury Bus Station and is there a cost issue behind the decision to stop in the street outside rather than inside?

Whitefriars was being used for the 620 on 19 August 2021: Regent Mercedes Sprinter BF16 XRC.

Also SEK Solo on the ex-Regent 649: 47685; same day.
