This was listed in N & P this week (21 February) as commencing 4 April, operating via Allington and Hermitage Park which is the new estate between Allington and Hermitage Lane. A bus gate has been put in to stop other traffic using it as a cut through. The service is stated to be Monday to Friday.

Is this part of a s106 agreement?

Has everyone missed it?

Whether anyone has missed this depends on how many people had read page 22/27 of January Invicta!

The timetable for this can now be seen on bustimes.org

It shows a mostly hourly service on Mondays to Fridays from 07.18 to 18.52 between King Street and Maidstone Hospital, via Allington and the new Hermitage Park development.

No stops are shown through the new estate, unless they have just not been registered electronically yet, or it will run on a ‘hail and ride’ basis.

Interestingly the blurb advertising the Hermitage Park development says:
“There are excellent bus route services which connect the surrounding towns and the introduction of further bus routes and the addition of a dedicated bus access for Hermitage Park will provide frequent bus services within the local area”.

It is surely an oversight that no arrival times are shown at Maidstone Hospital on the outbound journeys?

... and ASD have published their own timetable today on their website, https://asdcoaches.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/60-Maidstone-Town-to-Maidstone-Hospital-04-22.pdf. It's good to see the timetable has been sensibly adjusted for differing running times in the peak timetable, even where this means a loss of frequency.

The developer's blurb is interesting... an hourly service Monday to Friday only - presumably S106 funded, otherwise presumably relying on the frequency-about-to-be-reduced service along London Road to back up their marketing claim!

Unfortunately the launch of the 60 due on 4th April has had to be postponed (at a very late stage) for several weeks - it will still happen but some matters concerned with the as-yet unadopted part of the route from Howard Drive into the Hermitage Park estate have yet to be fully resolved.
The Traffic Commissioners are aware and a new launch date will be registered when finalised.
