If there was any more evidence required as to the difficulty of capturing the latest blinds in full, the 35 pictures I took across two different devices of two different ages, in four different locations, over four journeys, to try and get a full blind for Arriva's new summer service 192... and failing in every single one of them... must be up for some sort of record!

The commercially-operated service started last Thursday and will run Monday to Saturday until 30 August, offering 5 journeys each way (departing Chatham at 0900, 1030, 1400, 1530 and 1700, and Allhallows 45 minutes later) via Dockside and Hoo - in the process (temporarily) reintroducing scheduled Arriva operation to the Medway Tunnel. Even better, a printed timetable has been produced and distributed to at least the Pentagon and Allhallows caravan park.

6558 has performed every day so far except Friday 25th (I understand a bit of an 'oops' moment with allocations, it being the last vehicle to leave the depot), and is understood - at least at the moment - to be the regular vehicle. It's seen here, with as much destination as I could manage, at Dockside and Allhallows Caravan Park on the second journey pair of journeys... and the first to carry non-enthusiast passengers!

I have found that it’s easy when stationary, BUT with most cameras you have to set the sped to 1/125th or lower. If you leave it on automatic it will generally have a speed higher than that. Also if you set a low speed you have to remember to increase it afterwards or your moving photos will all be blurred! It is getting easier with some of the newer vehicles eg. The displays on the new ADL E400EVs at Bromley usually come out at higher shutter speeds.

As the summer service 192 comes to an end on Saturday, it was high time to make another attempt at photographing the 192. Passenger usage has crept up slowly over the course of the holidays, from carrying barely any, to being a nice way of getting back from Chatham faster after lunch (the 14:00 departure from Chatham soon seemed to be relatively 'busy'), to starting to explore other journey opportunities, e.g. Hoo to Dockside. A number of Haven staff members have also been using the 09:00 departure from Chatham, albeit few other passengers.

By special arrangement, 6528 was the vehicle allocated on Wednesday 27th (the driver's last day; not anything to do with me!), and is seen here on both the first and last journeys of the day - with a 'Discovery day out between - at the Kingsmead Caravan Park stop in Allhallows. The former British Pilot pub in the background of the morning picture seems to be undergoing a very long-term conversion into flats and a Co-op.
