It's been about 15 years since the last postbus was withdrawn in Kent (they appear in the Jan 2009 Kent & Medway Map, but not the August 2010), so it was a great surprise to find this relic in Hook Green, Southfleet earlier today (Thursday).
From the maps, this would have been served by the PO15 service, later the '305' between Gravesend, Betsham and Bean, although I believe the service number was never shown on the vehicle. Although I never had a chance to ride one myself - the sole Medway example was the PO13/320 with the primary function of serving Cooling) - it does sound like the sort of thing 'adult me' would try. The nearest I got was persuading the Rochester Delivery Office to hand over a timetable... once.
In this case, the stop was every bit as up the bank and in the hedge as it looked, and you wonder if the passengers here could see the timings even then. Did these exist anywhere else in Kent (and do they still?), or was this something of a one-off?
